Days 1 to 4 · Tokyo · 3 nights

Begin in Tokyo with time to recover from travel and a private introduction to the capital. Explore an older neighbourhood, a garden or a museum according to your interests, setting the scene for the history and craftsmanship of northern Japan. Keep an afternoon free before the rail journey north.

Days 4 to 7 · Kakunodate · 3 nights

Take the Akita Shinkansen towards Kakunodate and settle into the region. Discover preserved samurai residences with a guide, then explore the town’s cherry bark craftsmanship and regional culture. An excursion to Lake Tazawa offers a change of scenery. Seasonal blossoms and autumn colours depend on timing and cannot be guaranteed.

Days 7 to 10 · Nyuto Onsen area · 3 nights

Continue towards Nyuto Onsen for a quieter stay among forests and hot springs. Allow generous time for bathing, seasonal food and gentle surroundings, with outings shaped around weather and your energy. These inns offer regional character rather than city hotel facilities, so we confirm toilets, bathrooms, beds and bathing privacy for the specific room before booking.

Days 10 to 12 · Tokyo · 2 nights

Return to Tokyo by rail with a comfortable buffer before departure. Revisit a favourite neighbourhood, enjoy a final shopping appointment or ask us to explore a special dinner. Your last day remains lightly scheduled before your ground departure arrangements on day 12.
